Sorry I’ve been so quite lately.  Last month my personal life took over and I spent most of my spare time working on my parent’s 50th anniversary/family reunion party.  It was a lot of fun, but a lot of work.  So I had to put aside working on the film project for a while and focus my attention on the party.  It went well, everyone had a good time, and it was great to see family that I haven’t seen in a while.  Now, I’m back to work on the movie.

I know I’m way overdue on giving all of you a project update and, I promise, that is coming in the near future.  For now, if you wish to follow more of my day to day tasks that aren’t really big enough for a full blown blog, you can follow me on Twitter.  Yep, I’m now Twittering!

Vincent Ventresca in “Stuck”

I remember when talking to Vince a while back that he had mentioned that he was doing some writing for a pilot.  Well, just recently I found out what it is about.  It’s a TV series pilot that Vince co-created and executive produced with Erik Palladino and Matthew Leutwyler.  If those names sound familiar, it’s because Vince also worked with Erik and Matthew on Dead and Breakfast.

Stuck, which is produced by Ambush Entertainment, has been accepted into the Independent Television Festival, which runs from July 31 to August 6.  The first screening  was on July 31, but there is one more screening you can catch on Wednesday, August 5, at 7:30 p.m., for those of you in the LA area.   It will be playing at the Laemmle’s Sunset 5 at 8000 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, CA.  Tickets can be purchased at Ready Theatre Network.

The following picture shows Vince in attendance at, I believe, the opening night gala.  I want to thank Russian fan Evgenia Koralskaia for bringing the picture to my attention.

Note:  I took the picture down because of copyright issues.  To see the picture of Vince and even more pictures, please visit jamd.

Synopsis: In any other town they’d be winners, but in Los Angeles….Erik and Vince are two “kind of” successful actors living in that world between EXTRAS and ENTOURAGE, while still waiting for their big break…at age 40.

I don’t know if the series will get picked up by a network, but we do get a peek at it via the following trailer.  Enjoy!

Paul Ties the Knot!

Some of you may have already heard this news, but for those of you who haven’t, you may be happy to know that on July 5, Paul Ben-Victor married Julie Austin Felder!

I would have gotten this notice up earlier, however, I’ve been having ongoing computer problems.  But I want to thank Julie Ben-Victor, BB Fenix of Pure PR Associates, and Marc Bennett for being so gracious and allowing me to share the following pictures and video with all of you.

The wedding took place at a Los Angeles yacht club under a large white tent.  Most of the guests wore white.  It was a beautiful setting.  There were so many wonderful pictures to choose from that I had a hard time deciding which ones to pick, but I can only post a few so, first up, here are the happy couple.  Don’t they make a lovely pair?

Here are Paul and Julie lip-syncing to their own pre-recorded voices.  What fun!

Not surprisingly, there were several celebrities in attendance, but since this blog focuses on the I-Man cast, there is one in particular that I know all of you are interested in:  Vincent Ventresca.  Check out the photos!

The Final “Path”

We’ve been patient and our patience has finally paid off.  Today Mike McCafferty posted the final episode of Path for our viewing pleasure.  According to Mike, everything that could have gone wrong with this episode did, including, unfortunately, being unable to schedule shooting time with Vincent.  But the show must go on and I appreciate Mike’s tenacity in getting this finished.

Here for your viewing pleasure is Path episode eight.

Vincent Ventresca in “True Jackson VP”

Vincent Ventresca guest starred Saturday in Nickelodeon’s True Jackson VP.  The episode is entitled “True’s New Assistant.”   True Jackson VP star, Keke Palmer, said about the episode, “very funny show, wait til you meet the assistant, he turns out to be a handful, the actor that plays the assistant is so good.” — KeKe Source Online

I have to agree with KeKe.  This may be a kids show, but Vince really shows off his comedic talents here.  I’m always amazed at the range he has as an actor…from a goofy assistant to a scary killer to an invisible man.

I only found out about Vince’s appearance about half an hour before the show started on Saturday…too late, unfortunately, to be able to give all of you a heads up.  So I’ve been looking around, trying to find out if there are going to be any reruns or online airings.

Nick’s TV show schedule doesn’t really give much detail.  The show airs its first-run episodes on Saturdays at 8:30 p.m.  The schedule shows other airings of the show at the following times this coming week, but doesn’t give any info as to whether they are reruns of Saturday’s episode or not.

7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 2
7:30 p.m. Monday, July 6

I did manage to find a short clip from the episode for you to watch.

True’s New Assistant Clip

It appears that at some point the entire episode should be available to watch online, although I’m not sure when that will happen.  But if I was to venture a guess, I’d say give it a week then click on the above link and see if the entire episode is up.

“The Invisible Man” Gets its Own Chapter

A couple of years ago I was approached by author/journalist Mark Phillips who, along with his writing partner Frank Garcia, was writing the second in a series of books on science fiction TV series.  Their first book, Science Fiction Television Series, was published in 2006 and covered TV series from 1959 to 1989.  Their second book was to cover series from 1990 to 2004.  So guess which series that we all know and love fits into that date range?  Yep, The Invisible Man.

When Mark approached me asking for help on an Invisible Man chapter that he was writing for the book, I was happy to help.  Hey, I’m a fan.  How could I resist?  So I provided information about the show and helped edit the chapter, as well as arranged interviews with Vince and Paul

Now, after all this time, the book has finally been published!  Mark did a really nice job with the chapter.  There are maybe one or two errors that crept into the chapter, but for the most part, it’s pretty accurate.

Mark starts out with a quote from writer Leslie Stevens who said, “Invisibility sucks.”  Leslie wasn’t referring to the power of invisibility but, instead, was complaining about the difficulty in creating a successful series about invisibility.  Is it any wonder?  Virtually every invisible man series created before our invisible man series has performed poorly.  But when you consider that film is a visual medium and invisibility is, well, invisible, you can begin to see the difficulties that filmmakers have making invisibility work.

This makes me appreciate the brilliance of Matt Greenberg even more.  Not only did he not skimp on the invisibility aspects, but he created a way to do invisibility that we hadn’t seen before, what with the gland and Quicksilver.  However, he wisely didn’t put the focus on the invisibility.  Instead, he created fun, flawed, and fascinating characters that we could fall in love with and care about.  In fact, it was the “show’s emphasis on characterization” that attracted Vince to the part of Darien.

Mark writes about several of the episodes such as the pilot (good choice), “Catevari,” and “Legends.”  In hindsight, I probably should have suggested that he include something about a few of the stronger episodes.  I would have liked to have seen something in the chapter about “Flowers for Hobbes,” “Brother’s Keeper,” or “The Other Invisible Man.”

Subjects Mark writes about in the chapter include the casting process, the chemistry between Vince and Paul, the visual effects, the addition of agent Alex Monroe, and the cancellation.  There’s some interesting stuff there that you may or may not know about.

The book is definitely a must have for I-Man fans, as well as lovers of science fiction TV shows.  You can purchase a copy for yourself by clicking on the link below.  That will take you to a website filled with all kinds of information about both books as well as ordering info.  (I bought my copy from Amazon.)

Note:  I’m not making any money plugging this book.  My only rewards have been being able to help with promoting I-Man to more people and getting a very nice acknowledgment in the Acknowledgments section of the book.

French Fan Site

Invisible Man fans are an international community and it’s really nice when I get to hear from those of you who are in other countries.  A fan from France by the name of Elodie contacted me a couple of months ago and was very supportive of my film project.  I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all her support as well as those of other French I-Man fans out there.  It’s great to know that there are other fans out there who want to see the cast together again as much as I do.  Thank you!

Elodie runs a great I-Man fan site that you should check out.  The link is below and I’ve also added it to the Friends and Supporters section on the right-hand side of the blog.  Her site is written in French, so if you don’t read the language, you might try any of those handy free translator programs that are on the Internet.  It will at least give you a gist of what is written.
