After only one season, Craig Silverstein’s series, Standoff, has been cancelled. I think we all saw the writing on the wall when the show was moved to Friday nights. But don’t worry about Craig being unemployed. His incredible talent has been recognized by 20th Century Fox TV and they have no intention of losing him. Can you blame them? According to Variety, “while Standoff lasted just one season, 20th moved quickly to extend its relationship with Silverstein. Studio had another year left on its old deal with the scribe but chose to throw out that pact in order to negotiate a new agreement.”
“Every opportunity we get, we’re going to try to extend our deal with him,” said 20th Century Fox TV chair Dana Walden. “He’s a great utility player who can write any genre of television. And he’s been a really good partner to us by being on other people’s shows while developing his own projects.”
So what’s next for Craig? Well, he’s been named executive producer of Fox’s new fall show K-Ville, which is set in New Orleans. K-Ville is set to premiere Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at 9:00 p.m./8:00 p.m. central, on Fox. But in an unprecedented move on the part of the studio, you can watch the first episode right now before it premieres on TV. Interesting way to market a TV show.

Six episodes of Drive were made, but only four episodes were shown before the show was unceremoniously yanked from the air. Now, those last two episodes are available to watch online on Drive’s MySpace page. Episode five, entitled “The Extra Mile,” and episode six, entitled “Rearview,” are there in addition to the first four episodes.
A post-Drive wrap-up interview with executive producers Tim Minear and Craig Silverstein can be found at the Drive Fans website. In it, Tim and Craig reveal future storylines had the series continued. It may not really matter at this point, but because of all the spoilers, I suggest you watch the last two episodes before reading the interview.

After a long hiatus, Craig Silverstein’s show, Standoff, is returning to our TV screens. It’s been moved to Fridays…not a good sign. However, cast member Michael Cudlitz tells the Chicago Tribune that it hasn’t been cancelled yet. Will it find its audience on Friday nights? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
To catch up on episodes you might have missed, visit the Standoff MySpace page.
Watch the new episodes starting this Friday, June 8, at 9/8 c on Fox. As usual, check your local listings for the time and channel in your area.

I did a double take yesterday when I saw Craig Silverstein’s name appear as the writer for last night’s episode of Drive. Nice surprise. I guess Craig is making good use of the time Standoff is on hiatus and Fox is making good use of this very talented writer that they have under contract.
Speaking of Standoff, it’s scheduled to come back on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 9/8 central. I’ve got to say that I’m a bit nervous for Craig, because Standoff getting moved to Fridays is not a good sign.

I’m really sorry to post this announcement after the fact, but I didn’t find out about Joel Bissonnette’s (Arnaud De Fehrn) guest appearance in Standoff until after the show was over. Literally five minutes after the show was over, I found out. And, yes, I missed it.
The good news is that you can go to Standoff’s MySpace page and watch the episode there on demand. It should be up for three weeks. How cool is that?
On another note, remember Jonathan Glassner? To refresh your memory, he was one of two executive producers who came on board after Matt Greenberg left I-Man. Well, he’s now working as Co-Executive Producer/Director on Standoff. Interesting how so many I-Man alum end up working together again on different shows.
If you enjoy the behind-the-scenes stuff, then you gotta check out this cool video in which Glassner takes us through the making of an episode of Standoff.
