“Changeling” Heads for Cannes

Posted in Film, Film Festivals, Mike McCafferty at 9:41 pm by Amanda Rogers

Variety has announced that Changeling will be shown at the Cannes Film Festival this month.  The film was written by J. Michael Straczynski, directed by Clint Eastwood, and stars Angelina Jolie

Changeling is a mystery about a mother whose prayer for her kidnapped son to return home is answered.  It doesn’t take long, however, for her to suspect that the boy who comes back is not hers.

So why am I blogging about this film?  Because our own Mike McCafferty has a small role in it!  He plays the role of a ticket agent.  I’m really hoping that he won’t be cut from this film and that we’ll actually be able to see him this time.

The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 14 - 25, and Changeling is premiering on Tuesday, May 20.  Hopefully some of you French fans will be able to attend and see this film.  If not, Changeling is scheduled to get a wide release in France on February 4, 2009.  In the U.S., Changeling will be released on November 7, 2008.  See the schedule below for the release dates for a few more countries:

USA November 7, 2008
Spain December 19, 2008
UK January 2, 2009
France February 4, 2009
Germany     March 12, 2009

Vote for Mike’s “IT Room” Videos

Posted in Internet, Mike McCafferty, Videos at 5:51 pm by Amanda Rogers

From Mike McCafferty comes the following request:

I need you to drop by http://theitroom.com and vote my videos (Click “This is Good”)up and perhaps leave a “Pro-Mike” comment or two. This is not some vanity gesture toward me but a financial one. They pay me to make these little “gems” and if there’s a perception that I am liked in the world wild web then they’ll continue to see this as a symbiotic relationship, rather than parasitic and I’ll keep getting paid. If you choose, you can also watch the videos, which are getting better (or at least more structured).

So go on over to The IT Room and give Mike a hand, will ya?

…Oh, and I’m in the camp that thinks that the show got better when Sheridan replaced Sinclair.

Mike McCafferty on Slice of SciFi Show #148, Sat., Feb. 16, 2008

Posted in Internet, Interviews, Mike McCafferty at 1:17 am by Mike McCafferty

Our guest for the next Slice of SciFi Show (#148) will be actor, director, writer and producer Mike McCafferty. Internet geeks will know Mike from his portrayal of the Ghost in the very popular video short “Chad Vader”. He has done stints on television with such great shows like “The Invisible Man, “ER,” “The West Wing,” “The Shield” and more.

However, Mike has also had roles in some pretty big feature films including “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” “Idiocracy,” to the upcoming Clint Eastwood directed film titled “The Changeling,” due out in November of this year (script written by J. Michael Straczynski).

Addendum by Amanda:  Mike, thank you very much for letting us know about your upcoming interview!  I just want to let readers know that they can catch your podcast interview at http://www.sliceofscifi.com/2008/02/14/mike-mccafferty-on-slice-of-scifi-show-148-sat-feb-16-2008/.  I couldn’t find any mention of when the show starts on the website, but if anyone misses it, they can listen to the interview at their convenience by simply looking for it in the Archives or Most Recent Episodes section of the website.

Halo Minute Countdown

Posted in Jason Makiaris, Mike McCafferty, Videos at 6:03 pm by Amanda Rogers

Here’s a fun little live streaming show that was shot on New Year’s Eve and hosted by Mike McCafferty and Dawn Cody.  Jason Makiaris makes an appearance in it too.

If you’re a gamer, you’ll probably especially like this because these guys spoof those countdown shows by doing a countdown of the top ten Halo games of all time.  I should warn you that there is some profanity in this video, but it is very minor.
