The Submission Period for Character #5 has now come to a close. I’ve closed the comments on the thread so no further names will be accepted. We again beat the number of submissions we had for our previous character with a humongous 174 submissions for this round! There was some serious competition going on here!
For the next week the judges will deliberate and choose our favorites. The finalists will be notified by email that one or more of their entries made it into the final round. If you don’t receive an email from me, your entry was not chosen. I will post the names on the Blog next Monday where everyone will get a chance to vote for their favorite!
I’ve been so busy with getting the NAME THE MOVIE CHARACTERS CONTEST under way that I really haven’t been telling you much about another cool project in the works. That project is Paul Ben-Victor’sShould’ve Been Romeo! Should’ve Been Romeo wrapped shooting a few months ago, which means that it is now in post-production. According to IMDb, it is scheduled to be released on April 7, 2011!
Originally, I thought that Eddie Jones was going to be in this movie because he participated in the reading but, unfortunately, his name does not appear in the credits. However, there is another I-Man alum whose name does appear in the credits and that is Vincent Ventresca! He plays the role of Actor #1.
Check out the second from the last name on this cast list.
Look at the third row of cast photos. Doesn’t the seventh picture from the left look familiar?
More Should’ve Been Romeo news coming in the future!

Character #5
The next name we need is for a character anticipated to be played by the handsome and talented Vincent Ventresca. For this character we are looking for only a first name. We do already have a name picked out that I’m going to submit for voters to decide upon. I’ve posted it as the first comment below. Can you come up with a better name?
Here’s a short character description:
He’s a parolee who is trying to get over his troubled past. Ironically, he works for a San Francisco security company where he gets to use the same skills that gave him the reputation as one of, if not, the best safecracker and lock expert in the country. When a rescue mission goes sour, he accidently discovers an unusual power buried deep within him.
Recently, Vincent Ventresca guest starred in an episode of $#*! My Dad Says. Unfortunately, I found out about it too late to alert all of you. So I looked and looked but was unable to find the full episode (entitled “Easy, Writer”) online, but I was able to find this clip from the show. The character Vince plays is named Samson. I kid you not.
Here is a short little-known Vincent Ventresca film that you may have never seen before. It is split into two parts and totals almost 17 minutes in length including credits. Warning: There is some adult content and language.
Let’s start out the new year with a little-known Vincent Ventresca project. When I first came across this project, I thought it was the trailer for a movie, but I found out from producer Jack Sollecito that it is actually a trailer for a TV pilot. The story is based on Jack’s experiences growing up in a boy’s Catholic military academy. Jack was kind enough to let me read the script as well as the query and cast bios.
Vince plays the lead role. His character, Daniel Cesta, is a freelance writer who returns back to his old school to teach history and English for a month. His motives, however, are another matter. Daniel, still bitter from his experiences at the school, is there to dig up dirt and write an expose on the harsh mental and emotional abuses that the boys are subjected to. Others at the school learn of Daniel’s true agenda and accuse him of being selfish and juvenile. In their minds Daniel really never learned anything in the time he was a student there. Slowly Daniel’s attitude begins to change and he begins to think more about helping the boys rather than just his own selfish goal. He decides to accept an extended teaching position that had been offered to him at the school.
I found the script to be well written and the subject matter to be unlike anything else I’ve ever seen covered in a TV show. This is the kind of show that I could see a cable channel picking up since they are usually more willing to take on unusual subjects and premises than the networks. Jack tells me that he’s had some good response from industry people that have read the script, so time will tell whether this project ever becomes a TV series.
Just a quick heads up here. My Neighbor’s Secret is airing tonight on Lifetime. So if you missed it the first time, here’s your chance to see it again. Vincent Ventresca has a sizeable role in this movie. It airs at 7:00 p.m. Pacific time and earlier if you live in the Central or Mountain regions, so be sure to check the listings.
Wait a minute. Is that true? Didn’t we see his character killed off then drained of blood and chopped up into pieces? Well, yes, but somehow Nolan Kinnard is back in this week’s episode of Dollhouse entitled “The Attic.” That’s a good thing for us because we get to see Vincent Ventresca again at his creepy best.
“The Attic” airs this Friday, December 18, at 8:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. Central Time) on Fox. If for some reason you miss it, you’ll be able to catch the episode on Hulu the next day.
Vincent Ventresca will reprise his role as Nolan Kinnard in this Friday’s episode of Dollhouse entitled “Belonging.” The episode airs October 23 at 9:00 p.m. PT/ET on FOX. Be sure to check the listings for your area.
Synopsis: Sierra is forced to face her past as her connection to the Rossum Corporation leads to obsession and murder in “Belonging.”
I try to keep up with what the cast is doing but, occasionally, something will get by me and I find out after the fact. That’s what happened in this instance. I recently found out that Vince was in the Lifetime movie My Neighbor’s Secret, which aired last month on September 26.
I wasn’t able to find any other TV airings of the movie. However, I did find the movie on Lifetime’s website! So, click the link below if you want to watch it, but don’t wait too long. My understanding is that the movie will only be available until October 28. Enjoy!
