Nestor No Longer “Lost”

Well, it looks like Nestor Carbonell, who has been playing the recurring guest role of Richard Alpert on Lost, might be taking a break from the series.  He’s landed a series regular role on the new CBS drama Cane, which premieres tomorrow night, September 25, at 10:00 p.m. on CBS.

There’s been a lot of concern among Lost fans as to the fate of Nestor’s character and even Cane creator Cynthia Cidre gets asked if Nestor will be available to guest star in Lost in the following interview.

And she’s not the only one getting asked that question.  Lost Executive Producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse also touch on that question in the Official Lost Podcast.

However, the Star Ledger takes it right to the top.  CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler was asked whether she’d let Carbonell do a guest spot on Lost.  “‘Probably not,’ she said, arguing that they’re trying to establish a new show and a new character, and she felt it would confuse the audience to see Carbonell playing roles on two different series at once.”

I think Nina may be underestimating the TV audience a bit, don’t you?

So there you have it.  When and if Richard Alpert ever appears on Lost again remains to be seen.  In the meantime, Nestor is in the enviable position of being in demand on two TV shows…an actor’s dream.

Batman

And just when you think things couldn’t get any better for Nestor, Variety reports that Nestor has been cast as the mayor of Gotham City in the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight.

Anybody else find it ironic that Batmanuel will appear on Batman?

Nestor Sightings

Lost

So did anyone notice that Shannon Kenny’s husband, Nestor Carbonell, was in last night’s Lost episode?  I think it would be cool if he came back as a recurring character, even though his character is a bit creepy.  That bus accident was just way too much of a coincidence to be an accident, don’t you think?

If you missed the episode, it is available for viewing online in streaming video at http://dynamic.abc.go.com/streaming/landing

Smokin’ Aces

Now playing in theaters is Smokin’ Aces, a film in which Nestor has a role.  He plays the character Pasquale Acosta.  Check out http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475394/cinemashowtimes for show times in your area.

Nestor Carbonell Guest Stars This Week in “Day Break”

Have any of you been watching the new ABC series Day Break?  If you haven’t, I recommend that you sit down this Wednesday and give it a try.  Not only because Shannon Kenny’s husband, Nestor Carbonell, has a guest role on this week’s episode, but also because, in my opinion (for what that’s worth), it’s looking to be a really good show.  Only two episodes have aired and I’m already sucked in.

The show is a take on Groundhog Day where a police detective, played by Taye Diggs, is forced to live what is possibly the worst day of his life over and over again.  Each day he makes different choices resulting in different consequences.  And each day he uncovers new clues to help him try to fix a day that has gone horribly wrong.

Day Break airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on ABC.  This week’s episode is entitled “What If He Can Change the Day.”

If the premise interests you and you want to watch it from the beginning, you can watch the first two episodes online in streaming video at http://dynamic.abc.go.com/streaming/landing.

Nestor Carbonell Guest Stars Tonight in “Cold Case”

Today has turned out to be a busier posting day than originally planned.  I just found out that Shannon Kenny’s husband, Nestor Carbonell, is a guest star on tonight’s Cold Case.

Synopsis:  When the 1958 suicide of DJ Jimmy “The Hawk” Hawkins is discovered to have been a murder, Lilly and the team must find the truth of this public persona’s private life by decoding a message hidden in his final broadcast.

The episode is entitled “Static” and it airs at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
